Nurse Practitioners

  • Mrs Donna O'Reilly (f)

We have an Advanced Practitioner working Monday to Thursday, offering a combination of telephone consultations, and face to face appointments for patients from 3 months of age.

An Advanced Practitioner is an experienced clinician trained at masters level, who acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from the initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their management, including prescribing and onward referral.

They do not manage:

  • Pregnancy or post-natal problems
  • Chronic mental health issues
  • Fit notes (sick notes)

Nurses

We have a group of experienced practice nurses working within the practice in the treatment room. An appointment can be made via the receptionists. The practice nurses are available to give advice and carry out immunisations and blood tests requested by the GPs. They also carry out blood pressure checks, cervical smears and health checks for newly registered patients. The practice nurses help run the following review clinics: diabetes, blood pressure, asthma and coronary heart disease screening clinics.

Please remember that the treatment room is not an A&E (Accident and Emergency) department and appointments need to be made to see the practice nurse or healthcare assistant.  The nearest A&E department is based at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport (0161) 483 1010.

Please note: for all dressings and change of dressings, and removal of sutures, contact the dressings clinic on (0161) 426 9636.
